This pre-main amplifier has been improved while taking over the concept of the LV 103. Like the LV 103, it is a hybrid configuration of a vacuum tube and MOS-FET. An FET is used for the first stage, a 3-pole tube is used for the pre-driver stage, which requires high voltage resistance and linearity, and MOS-FET is used for the last stage.
